Lock the list early
Deck changes in the last week cost you reps. A slightly worse list you know cold beats a better list you misplay in round three.
Know the two starting archetypes
Red・Blue is the aggressive trial deck; Green・Purple plays slower and plans ahead. Both remain the backbone of local metagames because they are the cheapest legal entry.
Practise the clock
Timed rounds punish deliberation. Goldfish your opening turns until you can deploy without thinking, and save your clock for the genuinely hard decisions.
Sideboard-free preparation
Without a published sideboard structure to lean on, matchup preparation happens in deck construction — build for the field you actually expect at that venue.
Bring backups
Spare identical sleeves, a printed or screenshotted decklist and a charged phone cover the three most common day-of failures.
