1. Find the slot that loses you games
Track your last ten games and note the turn you fall behind. Upgrade the Soul slot tied to that turn, not the most expensive card on the list.
2. Read the exact printed code, not the name
Soul printings use ESOUL codes (for example ESOUL-002). Parallels add a suffix. Two cards with the same name can be two different markets.
3. Separate power upgrades from cosmetic ones
A different Soul card is a power change. A gold or parallel version of the same Soul card is the same rules text in a rarer printing — buy it because you want it, not to win more.
4. Test the swap before buying the premium printing
Use the deck builder and simulator at /tcg-tools to run the upgraded list first. If the swap does not change your loss pattern, the printing you buy does not matter.
5. Price base and parallel side by side
Open /prices and compare the median for the base ESOUL printing against its gold or parallel. The gap is what the cosmetic upgrade actually costs you.
6. Sleeve the upgrade the day it arrives
Premium Soul printings show edge wear fast in play. Sleeve on arrival and keep the raw copy for the binder if you intend to resell later.
