The Wooden Club is the first melee weapon in Palworld and the fastest way to soften Lamballs for a guaranteed Pal Sphere catch. It unlocks at Level 2 from the Tech tree.

Unlock and recipe
Unlocks at Level 2 for 1 Tech point. Crafted at the Primitive Workbench with 5 Wood. No Pal ingot required — buildable in the first two minutes.
Base stats
Damage 10, durability 100, one-handed swing. Deals blunt damage that reduces Pal HP without instant-killing — ideal for catching low-level Pals like Lamball, Chikipi and Cattiva.
Best use
Pair with Pal Spheres for the standard early catch loop: attack until the capture-rate ring turns green, then throw. Two-shots Lamball at Level 3.
When to replace
Swap to the Stone Spear at Level 6 for +5 damage and reach, then Bow at Level 8 for ranged catching. Keep one Wooden Club in a chest for melee-only shrine runs.
