Palworld Base Building

You can hold three Palworld bases at once, each anchored by a Palbox with a fixed build radius and up to fifteen assigned Pals after upgrades. A working base needs flat foundations, a Feed Box, beds, a Hot Spring for sanity, and every production station clustered beside its input and output chest so Pals never path across the base. Raids scale with your level, so add wooden defensive walls and two combat Pals before level 25.

Foundations before anything else

Pal pathing follows walkable surfaces, so a base built on natural terrain will always underperform one built on a flat foundation slab. Lay foundations across the whole working area first, then place stations on top. This single change fixes the majority of reports that Pals are idle or stuck.

  • One continuous foundation level; avoid split heights inside the work area.
  • Keep ramps, not stairs, between tiers where Pals must carry ore.
  • Do not enclose stations fully — leave a walkable face on each one.

Production chains that feed themselves

A self-running base pairs each producer with a consumer inside carrying range: berry plantation into Feed Box, wood pit into Primitive Workbench, ore into Crusher into Furnace. When the chain is tight, transporting Pals move short distances and the chain never backs up. When it is spread out, everything queues behind a single carrier.

  • Ranch first: wool, eggs and milk feed both food and crafting.
  • One Crusher per two miners is the practical ratio.
  • Add a second chest between stages once you pass level 30 throughput.

Defence and raids

Raids target your Palbox, not your walls, so defence is about slowing attackers and having combat Pals free rather than sealing the base. Two levelled combat Pals left unassigned, a ring of walls with a single gate and a handful of defence turrets is enough through the mid game.

  • Keep two combat Pals unassigned so they respond instead of working.
  • Walls funnel raiders past turrets; a full seal just makes them attack the wall.
  • Repair the Palbox area after each raid — destroyed stations do not auto-rebuild.

Palworld Base Building FAQ

How many bases can you have in Palworld?

Three. Each is anchored by its own Palbox, has its own build radius, and holds its own assigned Pals, so most players run one production base, one mining base and one breeding base.

Why are my Palworld Pals stuck or idle in my base?

Pathing. Build on a continuous flat foundation, leave a walkable face on every station, remove split heights inside the work area, and empty full output chests.

What is the best Palworld base layout?

A single flat foundation with the Palbox centred, ranch and plantation on one side, ore and crafting on the other, chests between each stage, and beds plus a Hot Spring in a covered corner.

How do you stop raids in Palworld?

You cannot prevent them, only survive them: keep two combat Pals unassigned, wall the base with one gate, place defence turrets covering that gate, and repair the Palbox area afterwards.
