Palworld Work Suitability
Palworld has twelve work suitability types: kindling, watering, planting, generating electricity, handiwork, gathering, lumbering, mining, medicine production, cooling, transporting and farming. Each Pal has one to four of them at level 1 to 4, and the level sets how fast the Pal completes that job. Assigning a level 3 miner instead of a level 1 miner roughly triples ore throughput at the same food cost.

How suitability level changes output
Suitability level is a throughput multiplier, not a permission flag. A Pal with kindling 1 will still light a furnace, it simply does it slowly and burns food the whole time. Two level 1 Pals cost twice the food of one level 2 Pal for the same result, which is why an early base with six weak Pals starves while a base with three strong ones does not.
- Raise suitability with the Pal Condenser rank-ups rather than adding more Pals.
- Passive skills such as Serious and Artisan stack on top of suitability level.
- Cap base population and specialise: one job per Pal beats four jobs per Pal.
Best Pal per job
The practical picks change with progression, but the ceiling assignments are stable: Blazamut or Jormuntide Ignis for kindling, Jormuntide for watering, Verdash or Petallia for planting, Orserk or Grizzbolt for electricity, Anubis for handiwork, Astegon for mining, Lyleen for medicine, Frostallion for cooling, and Blazehowl for lumbering.
- Anubis is the single highest-value base Pal — handiwork gates every crafting queue.
- Jormuntide Ignis doubles as kindling for a Refining chain and a mount.
- Transporting is the job most players under-staff; two dedicated carriers stop chest overflow.
Why suitability breaks in practice
Most base stalls are not suitability problems. Pals abandon a job when they cannot path to the station, when the output chest is full, when sanity drops, or when another suitability they hold is closer. Removing an unwanted suitability is impossible, so the fix is layout: keep each job's station, input and output in one tight cluster.
- Empty output chests or add more — a full chest halts the whole chain.
- Use the Pal-specific work assignment to pin a Pal to one station.
- A Hot Spring plus beds keeps sanity above the work threshold indefinitely.

Palworld Work Suitability FAQ
How many work suitability types are there in Palworld?
Twelve: kindling, watering, planting, generating electricity, handiwork, gathering, lumbering, mining, medicine production, cooling, transporting and farming.
What is the best handiwork Pal in Palworld?
Anubis at handiwork level 4. Before Anubis, Tombat, Vixy stacks and Lifmunk cover crafting adequately; after Anubis, add a second handiwork Pal rather than upgrading anything else.
Does work suitability level matter in Palworld?
Yes. Level sets completion speed, so a level 4 Pal finishes a task far faster than a level 1 Pal while eating the same amount of food. Higher level means fewer Pals and less food for the same output.
Can you remove a work suitability from a Pal in Palworld?
No. Suitabilities are fixed per species. You can only stop unwanted work by pinning the Pal to a specific station or by removing the competing station from that base.
