Crossplay vs cross-progression

Crossplay means players on different platforms share a world. Cross-progression means one character and one save follow you between platforms. Palworld offers the first; the second is not available.

Updated for the current Palworld patch

Key takeaways
  • What you keep when you switch platform
  • Local save backups
  • Planning a group's platform
  • What does transfer

What you keep when you switch platform

Nothing carries automatically. A new platform means a new character, a new Pal box and a new world unless you are joining someone else's world.

Local save backups

PC saves live on disk and can be backed up and restored on the same platform. That protects you against corruption; it is not a route to a console.

Planning a group's platform

Decide where the long-term base lives before the group invests. Moving later costs the whole build, tech tree progress and every bred Pal.

What does transfer

Knowledge. Elemental matchups, breeding chains, mount speeds and boss weaknesses are identical, so the Pal Stars database, breeding calculator and damage calculator apply on every platform.

Watch for announcements

If cross-progression is ever added it will be announced by Pocketpair and reflected in the official patch notes. Treat third-party claims as rumour until then.
