Condition and grading basics
Condition is judged on corners, edges, surface and centring. Grading turns that judgement into a number and a sealed holder, at a cost that only makes sense above a value threshold.

The four checks
Corners, edges, surface scratches and centring. Photograph a card under angled light before buying or selling to reveal surface issues.
Raw condition labels
Near mint, lightly played and below describe cumulative wear. Ask for photos of the actual card rather than trusting a label.
When grading pays
When the graded premium exceeds the fee, shipping and risk. For most base-rarity Palworld cards it does not.
Population matters
A high grade is worth more when few copies hold it. Check population data before assuming a grade multiplies value.
Protect on arrival
Sleeve and toploader anything above base rarity the moment it arrives. Most damage happens in handling and storage, not shipping.
