When you want the opening experience, when box-level bonuses matter, or when a sealed product is appreciating in its own right.

Competitive decks need exact counts of exact cards. Buying singles is the only sane way to hit a four-of.

A single has a known price. A pack has a distribution. Only one of those fits a fixed budget.
