How breeding works in Palworld — the complete loop
Breeding in Palworld means placing one male and one female Pal in a Breeding Farm with Cake in the chest, collecting the egg they produce, and hatching it in an Egg Incubator. The offspring species is decided by a hidden breed-power average, not by the parents' species names.

What you need before you breed
Unlock the Breeding Farm at technology level 19 (100 Wood, 20 Stone, 50 Fiber), build an Egg Incubator (5 Paldium Fragments, 10 Stone, 30 Cloth, 2 Ancient Civilization Parts), and keep at least one Cake in the farm's feed box. Breeding stops the moment the Cake runs out.
The loop, step by step
Place one male and one female Pal in the farm, drop Cake in the chest, wait for the egg, pick the egg up, place it in an Egg Incubator, then wait for the hatch timer. Each pair consumes one Cake per egg and keeps producing eggs while both parents and Cake remain.
How the child species is chosen
Every Pal has a hidden breed-power value. The game averages both parents' breed power, adds one, and picks the species whose breed power is closest to that number, with ties broken by the internal Paldeck order. That is why two unrelated Pals can produce a third species entirely.
Gender and species rules
You need one male and one female; species do not have to match. Same-species pairs always produce that species, which is the reliable way to farm a specific Pal rather than a specific stat line.
